Home Style Consultants Consultation Design Process Home Style Consultants is a Consulting Design firm. This means that we will work with you on your project from the preliminary design and estimating phase throughout the construction phase. If you already have a professional Remodeling Firm that you are dealing with, we will work as a team with them, or if you are in need of a Remodeling Firm we will be happy to suggest one for your specific needs. The design/build process, as the words indicate, is broken down into two phases. The design & planning process is the following:
Prior to coming to your home, we will discuss what you want to accomplish, any special needs, and what type of investment you want to make in your home. As we discuss the project over the phone, we will be roughly estimating the costs to the items you describe. If possible, we will then give you an “approximate price range”, over the phone, for you to compare to what you intend to invest in your project.
If this "approximate price range" sounds right and meets your approval, and you are ready to proceed ,we will schedule an appointment to meet you at your home. There is no charge for this initial consultation. While we are in your home, we will listen to what you want your project to be, visually inspect the area(s) of your home in which you want the work, and look at any pictures, magazine clippings, or sketches you may have. We will discuss the project with you and explain how we perform the design & planning process. At this time two things can happen: first we may agree and both of us may wish to continue to the next step, or we may not find an agreement and we will still part as riends. When there will be an agreement, two things will happen: 1. you are ready to continue with the project and a retainer is needed at that time, 2. we schedule another appointment and start reviewing Design Layouts, Fixtures, and Appliances.
A third meeting consisting of a full Design Layout in the products you have chosen will be put togather for review including costs. This being reviewed at the homeowner’s location, any changes will always be made at no extra-charge for the customer. Please always keep in mind that changes will reflect the estimate, be it a decrease or an increase to the final amount.
If you are already working with an architect or Remodeler, we will be happy to work with them to put together the specifications at a negotiated fee based on the complexity of the project. If no design is necessary due to the nature of the project, again the specification fee can be negotiated.
